E011 - Jeff Plankenhorn
Sunday Sep 13, 2020
Sunday Sep 13, 2020
"All thanks to Rosetta" with Jeff Plankenhorn
We got to hang with slide virtuoso Jeff Plankenhorn, a long time Austin icon known for poly instrumental mastery and impossible-to-convey kindness. You feel better when this man is in the room - and that sentiment doubles when he plays... and “play” is exactly the right word. Listen to Jeff school the Soundwizards throughout this fun and funny episode from Heelys to the definition of "Unplugged".
From the childhood music teacher that first told him “playing music is exactly that: playing,” to household names he’s been friends with for decades, Jeff name drops throughout - demonstrating both an impressive memory and a humbling respect for those that inspired him to become the musician and total chiller he is today. Make sure to take some time to check out him on social media @jeff_plankenhorn and live wherever and whenever you can!

Thursday May 21, 2020
Go back in time with TSWP all the way to January when we could hug and complain about "close talkers"... This MINI episode is from the Second Annual Super secret Super Inclusive Free Week Art Party! We invited audience members on stage to JAM with TSWP house band, in this weird and wild episode. We were able to conduct a, very fun, experiment in pure human expression right in the middle of this awesome live event! Learn about @savoymalone 's plight for our beautiful central Texas water not to be ruined by greedy pipeline'rs as well as an incredible performance by a one "Sarah", who leads us all on an iconic song by the now defunct Austin music royalty: Chicken Squirt. Please everyone stay safe, and we'll be back to regularly scheduled programming as soon as the world rights itself. The next full episode coming down the pipe is with the illustrious @jeff_plankenhorn , so make sure to like and subscribe so that you won't miss it!

E010 - Mobley
Wednesday Apr 08, 2020
Wednesday Apr 08, 2020
We got to hang with Mobley (@mobleywho), an artist that pays diligent attention to all of the elements that go into composition and performance - from the sociopolitical context in which we all operate, to the production elements many of us never see, to the multifaceted components of a highly conscious stage presence. If you catch Mobley perform, you won’t simply enjoy his creative work - you’ll share a lived experience with someone who has put plenty of thought and effort into exactly what those moments feel like - for you, him, and everyone else in the room. Speaking with Mobley is much the same - you’ll walk away smiling, charged, and inspired. After, go listen to “Nobody’s Favorite”. Please stay tuned to our social media channels for fun #quarantine connections!

E009 - Valen Forever
Wednesday Mar 25, 2020
Wednesday Mar 25, 2020
We got to hang out with Valen (@valenforever), a human with a built in weapon and the heart & mind to wield it as an instrument. Lots of us are sentimental. Some of us are serious. For many, this is a dangerous combo. For Valen, this is simply the honest reality that singing about things like forever demands. Band name this episode: “Orphan Verses”. As always, please ignore all wizard commentary, & just listen to how real Valen lives. And shit, we damn near wrote a song (it's in the jam to be different)...Check out her music video for "Winona Forever"!

E008 - Jodi, Phil, and Rozie
Thursday Mar 12, 2020
Thursday Mar 12, 2020
We got to hang out with a couple atmospheric mega-nerds from the band Moving Panoramas (@MovingPanoramas): Phil, Jodi, and Rozie - recognize! They recently raised over $4,000 dollars for mental health non-profit SIMS Foundation and the band landed on NPR’s “Austin 100 Great Bands”. Jodi will tell you what you didn’t want to know about Phil Collins, and one-up that dark moment with invisibility and self-awareness. Speaking of humans named Phil: Rozie’s parents met at a Dr. Phil(@DrPhil) seminar, while attending with their previous partners. Can’t make this shit up. #autohagiography

Welcome to MINI Episodes!
Monday Dec 16, 2019
Monday Dec 16, 2019
One thing that we have learned here at The Soundwizard Podcast is that making good podcasts are hard! As we continue to make more full length Soundwizard Podcasts, we want to make sure that you the listener are not left out in the cold without any Soundwizard soundbites to keep your ears warm and cozy. We decided to go around to some of True's good friends and ask them about musics impact on their lives, as well as challenge them to "jam" with him (whether they feel that they have any skills to do so or not). We want to make sure that we are consistently delivering you great content in both long and short formats, good for all types of commutes and activities. You'll know if its a MINI Episode because it will have ME at the beginning of the number! Stay tuned as we are preparing amazing full episodes coming soon with members of Moving Panoramas, Valen Forever, Jeff Plankenhorn, and Cilantro Boombox! Also don't forget to come out to our next live event at The Second Annual *super secret super inclusive* Free Week Art Party on Friday, January 3rd, 2020 at the iconic North Door Venue in Austin, TX!
